Product Description

Scientific Name:  Billbergia viridiflora.  Common name:  none known.

This is a relatively rare bromeliad species native to southeastern Mexico (Chiapas, Tabasco), Guatemala (Peten, Alta Verapaz, Irabaz) and Belize .    It is  the only Billbergia species noted for Belize by Balick et el.   The species is a very decorative species that is widely grown for its beautiful leaves and striking red flowers.  Easy to grow from seeds and makes an excellent plant that is easily cared for.   Just pot or plant and keep in shade or partial sunny area.   The bromeliads are epiphytes but this one can be grown either a terrestrial or an epiphytic plant - they feed through their leaves and not their roots. If you mist the leaves once or twice weekly they will stay happy. Makes great companion plants to grow with orchids. Like orchids, they can be attached to almost anything except chemically treated wood. They are drought-tolerant and suitable for xeriscaping. They like light, but not direct sun and require good air circulation.  The fruits are fleshy orange berries.   In nature the seeds are usually dispersed by animals.   An easy bromeliad species to grow from seeds but seeds are rarely available commercially!

This item is a special plant lover's packet of fifty (50) Billbergia viridiflora seeds, to be delivered upon receipt of payment. Note that the buyer pays $3.95 postage & handling.

****IMPORTANT *****

If you are an overseas customer you need to be aware some plants & seeds may be illegal in your Country. I advise you to check this out before buying. If plants or seeds are confiscated by customs the responsibility will be yours and they will not be replaced or refunded.
